Even in calm weather any swell from the W/SW will make this and other nearby anchorages quite uncomfortable and I would not really consider Calgary for an overnight stop. Far better to go to Loch Drumbuie or as already suggested Gometra, both completely sheltered.
Thanks for views. Looking for places to overnight between Dunstaffnage and Tiree, depending on how far we get first day. Tobermory is an obvious one, but if we get further..? Maybe can make Coll (Arinagour)? Calgary seemed a possibility halfway.
As above, fine, but with all the normal precautions about wind direction..
There's a stone jetty on the north side, which was surprisingly difficult to spot from a distance; it's reasonable spot to anchor off. Our hull and keel are similar to yours; we wouldn't anchor beyond the jetty.
A lot depends on wind and, primarily, the tide in the Sound of Mull.
If you have a fair wind and catch the tide early, then Coll is a possibility, but bear in mind that a fair wind to Coll means Arinagour is a lee shore and a very lumpy anchorage.
Personally, I'd make my first stop Sailean Mor, unless the wind is northerly in which case I'd make for Kilchoan and have an easy sail the next day.
... and if the wind is southerly Loch Mingary is a lovely spot, but you need to clear out in a hurry if the wind moves north of SW. Beautiful sunsets, but it can be a bit noisy with all the trout splashing in the shallows at the head of the loch.
