Caledonian Canal closure at Corpach

The Caledonian Canal is currently (Saturday morning) closed at Corpach. The problem is with the sea lock sill and divers are working on it. We had different times from various (very helpful) lockkeepers as to when the canal was expected to re-open with the most pessimistic being Tuesday.

Also, since our last trip along the canal all the water hoses have been removed – except for one we saw near the shower block at Banavie. Water is still available but you need your own hose.

This seems to be spreading across the whole of the UK now. It started in Wales.

I am reliably informed that this is to prevent bugs growing in the stagnent water in the hoses inbetween the sometimes infrequent use and the resultant claims against BWS for a dodgy water supply. PITA but I understand though to be honest, I'd rather use my own hose which is my responsibility and I know where the ends have been!!!!
