Calculating approximate diesel consumption.

You would probably be on the safe side if you reckoned on 0.6nmpg at 20kts

If it's 1.25/ltr in France it'll be cheaper in Spain (1.15-1.2). Factor in the prevailing E or NE wind and I reckon you're looking at 2,000 - 2,200 euros.
I was surprised how little fuel I used on the same trip. Maybe because it's all downhill from France to Spain?

Jez,

Different beast than your Bav...

Rough guess here ... @ displacement speed, or just above, you should be below 10 GPH, so if you use 1.5 NM/G ... so 320 NM = 200 Gallon @ 4.5L/G = around 900L ...

at around 1800 - 1850 RPM which the DD's love, you will burn a lot more of course ....

have sent a spreadsheet as a planning aid for you ...

Cheers,

Alf

In aviation circles, the broad rule of thumb for calculation fuel consumption (assuming 75% power) is 5 usg per 100hp, so a 300hp motor would burn 15 usg p/h. Be interested to know how that would compare...

When I brought my F43 around from Gib to SCM, I closely monitored fuel usage as the boat was new to me in 2011. Topping up the tanks each fill and registering mileage covered, I calculated a fuel burn in the order of 0.9mpg (2 x 370hp TAMD63's). We had to wind it up to 24-26k to allow for some choppy weather where we were forced to throttle back to 14-16k. I reckon if you use 0.8-1mpg you should be fine.

I planned a slightly shorter run for the first day of the trip, just to ensure I could work out the fuel burn for later.

Mike and Mary kindly assisted us on this trip which took 3 days which was kind of them and very much appreciated.
