Cala Llonga, Mallorca

They're laying moorings in more anchorages, and where there are moorings, insisting these are used (and paid for!), and not allowing anchoring. Port Colom too.

Any others noted?

No moorings in Cala Llonga at present, in any of the bays. No other places noted to date - havent been in Port Colom for that reason though as there should be nearby alternatives. Spent the night in Porto Petro where the posidonia bouys in the E side of the bay were either not laid are have already been removed (edit - in fact the place doesnt appear to be on the list at www.balearslifeposidonia.eu).

Was in Pollenca yesterday - no problems there. When we were in Porto COlom earlier in the year, buoys were free then in July the management was handed to the Club Nautic and charges inposed. Won't be going there again. Fornells, the poseidon buoys were free and anchoring in other parts of the bay OK, as at Adaya. The anchorage outside Mahon was OK - apparantly a 3 day limit but no sign of enforcement. Ciudadela anchorage by the entrance to the cala was OK as well.

The islands seem to be heading down the same route as many of the anchorages on the Costa Brava - full of buoys which generally are too packed to accommodate anything much above 8 metres even if you are prepared to pay. However, get away from any sign of life and the anchorages are still there; you just have a bit of a problem with life support.

Seems the same has happened Porto Petro. Looking at this site, which is linked from the Posidonia site, the bouys in Porto Petro are now under management of the RCN de Porto Petro and presumably chargeable. I wonder if this is a trend to manage the cost of the Posidonia programme?
