There's a certain make of tiller pilot that does not have the best reputation for waterproofness, an example of which I have.

As my tillerpilot is in an exposed position, it gets regular splashes and blobs of water coming its way, even when it's not raining.

As George sits out there in all weathers working away, I thought he deserved some decent waterproofs like the rest of the crew. Out came the sewing machine, and here's the results...

If anyone else wants to make something similar some dark winter evening, I can post the pattern. It's really simple to make.

I keep a lenght of plastic downpipe on board for when the wet stuff starts flying.
Just slip it over when needed ! lets the Pilot breathe as well, keeps the temperature of the unit down, Not sure if heat is a problem or not with these units !..
