I am converting out jabsco toilet to electric macerator and adding a holding tank with pump out facilities.
Both the toilet pump and pump out run about 21amps, both will not run together of course.
I am trying to work out a sensible thickness cable to run to the pumps.....it could be about 7m max from the connection to distribution board at the helm. I have tried various calculation sites and got differing answers from 6mm2 to 16mm2 cross section!!
The current not being the problem...but voltage drop over the run.
Any guidance appreciated.
Thanks

I used 10mm2 on the run to mine last year - similar distance. Works just fine, but tricky getting the spade connections on so had to lose a few strands at the ends.

thankyou, I was actually thinking the same to a busbar from where the short runs can be smaller. 10 mm2 it will be I think.

6 mm is sufficient to cover that current but you should work it out to carry the load of both running and the breaker must be rated lower than cable capacity, remember different cable can be slightly different ratings as it is if done in singles or two core.
volt drop unless over A long run wii have negligible effect
