Our new acquistion has the aforementioned unit fitted. Seems quite a robust unit and man enough for the task on our 37ft cutter rig.

Couple of questions for any forumites who have one of these....

Has anyone tried to get the heading NMEA output linked into a GPS (it has a gyro compass so heading data will be useful for MARPA on the chartplotter/radar) - how successful was this?

Secondly - on my setup the motor box attaches to the shaft which the wheel attaches to - and the wheel then attaches to the motor box - but my wheel wobbles /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I've tried removing the wheel and tighening the connection between the steering shaft and the motor box, but can't seem to get this tight enough (or do it so it doesn't slacken itself off) for the wheel not to wobble?

Any suggestions?

Jonny

I have this autopilot, although mine steers via a linear actuator pushing/pulling a small tiller. Not sure what the motorbox is, sounds like a hydraulic drive maybe, so can't help with your wobble problem. The company is in Poole and they manufacture nothing but autopilots. They are very helpful. Website is c-tronix.co.uk I think. Contact name is Martin. Depending on how old the unit is it may require upgrading. I have upgraded the software and also fitted a new compass. I've had a few problems with it but although they have been frustrating and have taken time to fix, the problem was invariably installation rather than any failing of the components. Don't have GPS linked either so no help there I'm afraid.
