C Series Classic software update

Finally have all the hardware to download the last C series classic update. Have gone to the Raymarine site, downloaded it and................ have two files that are not related in any way to the video tutorial they provide and cannot be opened further on a PC. The files are:-
autorun.dob
C_App_Upg.pkg

Do I just copy both to the blank CF card, just one? Which one? Do they need to be unzipped? How?

Might be a good idea to backup any routes/waypoints.

I did an upgrade recently and it reset everything.... including radar etc. Worth making a note of any specific settings you may have made.

You can download a helpful set of instructions from the same page as you download the update. There isd a restart procedure too. Yes it deleted all settings, waypoints ertc.

Note the size requirement for the Compact Flash card as well. Some cards over 256Mb will not work on the C Series Classic.

The other thing that is not well documented is the way you need to format the card prior to copying the two files into the root directory. I would recommend formatting the card as FAT (and not FAT32 as XP defaults to.. or NTFS that you might think would be better).. Just plain old FAT format is perfect.

I think it depends upon which firmware you are running. My C80 with the latest firmware can use the larger CF cards but it couldn't before.

Success! Now upgraded to the last available version from version 1 which it had been running. Now, who can tell me where the devil the list of AIS targets has gone? Used to access it through one of the soft keys on the bottom of the screen but now AWOL. The top right icon is telling me that the plotter is receiving AIS data.

It might be that the AIS layers turned off after the upgrade, look at system settings and make sure its turned on.

Sounds like the AIS layer needs to be turned on.
What is the latest software version, I wonder if they have enabled the AIS for Lights and other static nav aids?
