I bought the C-Map PC Planner software that comes with a USB Card Reader which will read C-Map Charts and also can Read/Write a 128KB User Card. The idea being that one can plan Routes and Waypoints at home, write it all onto the User Card and then upload the lot onto a Chart Plotter.
The PC Planner is in usage very good and simple. There is (in my case) a problem with it.
By the way, I have two Chart Plotters on board. Both Raymarine. One is the RL70CRC and the other is an old 630.
Creating Routes with upto 50 Waypoints and then transferring them to both Chart Plotters is quite straight forward.
However, if one creates User Points (so called by C-Map for Waypoints) for just Waypoint transffer, both Raymarine Chart Plotters can not even see the files !
I have so far found that C-Map has a thing about Marks and Waypoints. In the file (XML) the software creates, a position as Marks (Type 2) and not a Waypoint (Type 1).
Here is the catch 22 situation. The file can not be read by the Raymarine Plotters as it's a (Type 2) position.
I can and have, by an XML editor changed (Type 2) to (Type 1) BUT then the C-Map software refuses to write the file on the User Card. Catch 22 !
Forgive me if I have been too technical but I am hoping that perhaps someone else may have come across this problem and solved it.
I have been onto C-Map and Raymarine but so far no real response.
Thank you for reading my post
