While I took advantage of the free tickets I 'won' on this very forum (Thanks IPC) and attended the Caravan and Boat show at the NEC, I was determined to be browser and not a buyer.

 So I am now the proud owner of a Standard Horizon CP300i chart plotter, which the vendors threw is a free extra mount so I can move it from the boat to the RIB.

But, they also 'sold' me a C-Map W88 chart (Which will be posted to me) as I intend to tow the RIB to more exotic UK locations this year.

Somebody asked me today if the W88 (Covers all of the UK) provides the same resolution and detail as more localised C-Map charts.

Before the vendors despatch the card I would love to know the answer.

If you scoll down it gives you all the paper equivalent charts the W88 is based on with the scale for each

Hope it helps.

Thanks. Using that link in seems the 'local' C-Map charts use the same charts for the Menai Straits as the Wide charts do.

I just don't understand why it is the same price for a small area as it is for the entire UK, which was why I ask the original question.

Tom, if you had been there to hold my hand, as promised, instead of lying self pityingly in your sick bed, I may not have bought anything. It took all my willpower not to trade in my boat for the new Antares 680.

You need a Credit Card Protection Service when you visit boat shows, I'll lend you mine it's called Babs!!

The megawide charts (whole of the UK) are ususally on special offer (half price ish when bought with a plotter), so its really not cost effective to buy any other size, unless you know you are NEVER going to go out of a very small area.

Smooth marketing, somewhat like Canon/HP/Whatever printers. Cheap printers, expensive cartridges.

They sell you the Megaduperhumongouswide, so that when you renew it like you should, it will cost 249 quid instead of 69 quid (or whatever figure it is).

You don't need any chart stuff for the Menai area
I can draw summat for you on the back of a fag packet
With all the sticky out bits on;)

Yes, but as the plotter thingy is interchangeable between my stable of boats and I will be taking the RIB by trailer to pastures new where you haven't knocked the tops off the rocks.
