Has anyone got one of these c-map cards. We use a Navman Tracker 5600 GPS and are interested in this elctronic navigational card, it should be a C-card not an SD card.

Whoever has one, we have a number of questions;
What would be the least expensive price, where did you get yours from?
How satisfied are you with the way it works?
Does it give you the important details of depths, headroom clearences, marina layouts, and areal photos?
Would you buy the same kit, knowing what you know now?
Would you recommend an alternative?

Thanking you all in advance for your responses.

Regards, Lou

Thanks for that jimg.

We have looked at their website.
The c-map we are looking for is a mega-wide chart of all of the European inalnd rivers, canals & lakes.
So far we have been unable to find anyone who has got one, nor any local chandleries (we are in the south of France) who can demonstrate to see what it actually covers.
This item is not cheap, so before buying blind, we would like to see a sample to see what it covers and in what detail.
Regards Lou

You need to find a C-map dealer that has the Dealer programming system (where they can programme charts themselves). The DPS allows you to view the detail of all of C-Maps charts.

I use C-map with my Navman tracker and used it extensively in the norhtern French inland waterways very successfully. The potting is good (no depths shown), all the locks are there with their dimensions and VHF channel (usually 18 or 22).

Does that help ?

Hi Tom, thanks for your reply, I suspect I have the same chip for the channel and the most northern part if France and Belgium.

The NW6 megawide claims to cover all the European inland waterways, ie canals, rivers and lakes, including the River Danube, Scandinavian lakes etc. It also claims to show much details including depths, bridge clearences, locks, moorings and areal photographs. Our interest is to see a demo as we have not actually seen one working.

As we are planning extensive cruising in the inland waterways of Europe, ie; Germany, Poland, Austria, Hungary, etc, we thought this may be a good aid to have, unless someone can recommend a better alternative.

Our exhustive searches on the internet has not bourne fruit so far.

Thanks again
