New owner of my clinker dinghy made off with her on Saturday.
He's based on the Severn around Upton on Severn if you see her on the river.
(He's a painter and decorator, so the varnish will get a thorough going over)

Now maybe my back will settle down a bit.

I'm going to start a book on how long before our LS is afloat again.

Any advance on 6 weeks ? :)

ooo err. Was that mast tied down.....

I'm agog - what next? Boat suitable for a mooring I'm guessing?? :)
No. I want to avoid a mooring. I did miss out on a 14ft boat with a Stuart Turner inboard last night. Well I didn't miss out, I didn't click the Submit button for the next bid as it was getting past the price I had in mind.

I'm in no hurry though and am not looking for wind power particularly as the nicest days we've had this year have been almost windless. The other days have been raining (since June) and blustery, nasty winds.

Looking for an open day boat that's 18ft long, grp, stable with comfy seats, preferably with an inboard motor, weighs about 200Kgs and can be launched single-handed from a shore-side landing.

Did I say, cheap?

Of course, it doesn't exist. :(

I think you are a serial boat tart. Do you not fall in love with your boats at all? You use them and then discard them, and one can see as they shed their tears as they drip their way out of your drive.

I know I'm delusional, but I pretend I have a relationship with my boat..;)

I have a picture somewhere of you having a relationship with your Range Rover................Now........where is it??

I've owned that boat twice now. Also the Heron I restored, I owned twice.

I almost bought my trimaran back as well.

I love them all.

If I was wealthy and had a wet dock and boathouse etc, I'd have fleets of boats. Trouble is, one boat can't be everything.

I know you seem against the mooring idea but it does seem the most "back friendly" option. Given the Lake District's weather there is a lot to be said for a cabin and a self draining cockpit as well!

I realise it was a dreadful picture - wrong light, wrong side of the lake, wrong time of the day, wrong time of the month BUT - despite all of this - I wonder if the picture I took of you will somehow increase in value?

Perhaps you'd be interested in buying the original negative?

Being boatless, I have been musing over the suitability of your online identity.
Perhaps lake watcher, lakeatthebottomofmygarden or even backpain may be more appropriate?

No, I think the guy who bought it is committed. He had a clinker boat before, but it rotted.

I loved her but she was a tad too small for a day out and a tad too big for easy launch/recovery. Easy with a car, but my landing doesn't allow everyday vehicle access.

I'm not in a hurry to replace her. I don't really want a mooring again, but will have to do the maths with regard to trail/sail. (The slip is only a mile away).
The important thing is not to get something that requires me to heave and pull at, or to sit crouched whilst sailing. Death to feeble backs.
It depends what comes on the market. I just missed out on a 14ft grp boat with lug rig and inboard Stuart Turner. That would have been a trail/sail option. I stopped at my self-imposed limit and the other bidder bought it. Perhaps another £25 would have bought it. You can never tell.
