is it better to buy a used boat that not has been used mainly in salt water?
I live in Holland and want to buy a Fairline 34 Targa from 1999 or 2000. There aren't many Targa 34 avaiable from this year, so i'm looking abroad. In Holland most boats are used on the lakes. (no salt water).

Does it make a big difference, if a boat is used on salt water??

thank you.

If you do buy a fresh water boat, and then move to salt water, make sure you change the anodes as different metal is required. The engine thermostats could also be different if the engines are raw water cooled, as salt water thermostats open at a lower temperature to reduce the possibility of crystals forming.

I have a Jaguar 21 made in about 1980.

This has been in salt water all it's life.

The only blisters are in the grp fresh water tank in the forepeak.

Could send you pictures
