As some of you might know my predator 72 (Lady Anna II) will be ready for delivery very soon and now the time has come to buy all the toys and bits for her

As i did with my last boat i will take delivery and play all summer in england before shipping her out to Goa end september.
(i would post some stage pics if i only knew how)

as far as the toys are concerned i have decided on the following 1 x Avon 400 dl jet and 2 x yamaha waverunner gp1300r jets skis(wooohoo)

now the avon jetrib is pretty straight forward as its made in the uk so the pricing is pretty much standard and i cant seem to get them cheaper elsewhere...nevertheless if there is any savings to be made your advice would be much appreciated

the waverunners on the other hand ..i have had such pricing diffrential from various suppliers in diff countries i thought it may be prudent to seek advice here before going ahead.
(the advice from most here when i bought my first boat the manhattan 56 was indeeed priceless...bar a few inconsequential gits with boats smaller than the one my cleaning crew use)

this is what pricing is looking like.(all coverted to pounds and excld vat) for one unit

US gbp 4800 +frt
UK gbp 7800 + delivery (abt 150 pound)
UAE gbp 6800 +frt
singapore gbp 6900 +frt

the most ideal would be if i got them in th UK itself...but i just cant seem to understand the price diff.i spoke to one of the dealers and he came up with the same "rrp bullshit" and "but we could take somthing off since u r having two"...the bast#rd will need to take the engine out if he has to come anywhere close to the us price. their margin must be ridiculously high.
i really couldnt care much for the warranty or after sales as i have enough infrastructure of my own to take of of these things.

what would you lot suggest? the frt from US to UK for a 20' container will not exceed 1000 pounds including clearance, paperwork etc and that would be for 2 jetskis.

am very interested in your comments/advice.

I dont know much about jetskis but buying in the US must be right. However, in dealing with all that paperwork you need to make sure the handlers know they are temp import into UK, destined for onward shipping to Goa, else they will charge UK VAT. I dont know much about this but they might not let them out of the bonded customs area unless you pay VAT? I dunno, ask them...

If there is aproblem it could be cured if the UK consignee was UK VAT registered. A UK VAT reg person could pay the import vAT, immedaitely reclaim it, then sell to you zero rate (on the grounds they are to be exported from UK, to India). If you have any goodwill points to cash in with S/S. ask them to buy the US jetskis, and sell on to you at cost...? Or does GH have a UK VAT registration that can be used for this?

You are correct not to worry about warranty etc. Much easier to fix stuff yourself.

The 400dl will be pretty tame becuase the 320 is only just fast enough to be fun and the 400 has same engine. Avon are meant to be bringing out a more powerful 4stroke but I doubt it will be in time to make your ship in September, dang. As the tender will be a people carrier not a toy (the waverunners are the toys i presume) you could get a 4m luxury RIB with 4 stroke outboard, 60 hp or so? No big deal, just a thought...

No brainer surely... the premium for the UK supplied boats will be worth every penny, the jetskis will be delivered polished and fully preped with a full tank of gas and every detail meticulously checked before they are handed over.
Any problems will be fixed without a quibble, even if slighly outside the warrantry period they will be fixed out of goodwill to keep your future custom /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif..........

Just get 'em from the US, they will arrive faster anyway.

Not really the question you asked, but if I had two waverunners on board for playing and skiing behind, I'd definately go for a lightweight tender with a small (10hp) outboard for ferrying people around that two people could easily walk up the beach. Jet ribs are crap tenders 'cos they're too smokey and heavy.

Crikey -- Chetan!! We haven't seen you around for a while buddy. You are obviously keeping well and looking forward to your new large toy.

You are probably right about shipping those waverunners, and almost anything else you can safely pack in the container. You almost invariably get cheaper prices in the US.

If you take some piccies of your trip, and want them posting, just PM me and I will give you my email address and you can then send them to me to do for you.

Keep in touch more often eh! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i missed yr tender advice
i already have 2X 16 ft Nautica custom tenders with 90hp 2 strokes which i use to ferry guest etc
they also double up as toys as they can be rather quick with 1 or 2 people ...i have seen 44 knots on them

i think an outboard based tender is a good to have but i would rather carry jet also frm a safety point of view .
sometimes friends dont understand the dangers of a running o/b in the water.

coming back to the nautica ...i think their products are far superior to avon but the size isnt compatible.

also they have just lauched a 16ft 4 stroke jet weighing only 450kgs...i might one of those...but again we have issue with maintenance of 4 stroks yams in india...that why i have chosen the 2 stroke jets skis

best to all as always

Hi i can understand why you want a couple of jetski on your boat ,,,i had two last year we used to tow them out behind my 31 ,,,they were kawasaki 1100 two strokes,, to see the faces on my two 50 year old mates, as they criss crossed the boats wake was priceless.
