Buying in the US and transporting to UK

I am currently looking to purchase a motor cruiser, between 30-35 ft and built post 1990. My budget is around £40k.

However, I notice that I can purchase the boat I require in the US for around $40k.....about half price.

Is it possible / worthwhile to buy a boat in the US and transport it to the UK (Scotland)?

Other than transport costs, what other regulations / taxes /problems should I be aware of?

Is this something people regularly do?

If so, can anyone give me contacts of brokers in the US who will handle the whole process.

It's a very commonly asked question, so worth reading some of the past very detailed threads. However key things to be aware of are getting the boat CE marked, VAT and import duties (on both boat and shipping) shipping itself, and conversion of any shore electrics to 240v
