In process of buying Bav 42 in Split... setting up Croatian Company to reclaim Croatian vat, anyone know how long the process takes to reclaim the vat? other advice on buying process gratefully received.

A German friend of mine, bought two yachts in Croatia and set up a company in in Croatia to get back the VAT, but alas he had to bribe the office worker several thousand to process the paperwork which took about a year.
If you are non-Croataian you do not need to pay the Croatian tax if you register the vessel in another country.

I bought a boat in Croatia last year. Paid no VAT as it was exported immediately from Split. It is still in Croatia as it re-entered in Mali Losinj the following day under a U.K. flag. PM if you want any details.
