Hi
I'm going to buy 30' sailing boat, build in 1973 y. registered under French flag
What I have to do to transfer boat to SSR registry Haw looks whole paperwork affair
Is anybody gone thru similar transaction.
Many Thanks
Paul

Assuming you qualify for British registry, I cant imagine anything much being involved. SSR is simply a matter of filling in a form and paying your money. TBH its only any use to foreigners since it proves nothing in the UK. So if you plan on keeping the boat in the UK I'm not sure I'd bother to register it at all.

I have no idea whether the frogs need anything from you when you leave their registry.

Hi Paul,

Have done it twice, once very recently. The first time I forgot to get the boat 'un-registered' in France, and the French customs got upset with me! But no harm done.

This last time the boat was under Belgian flag and the old owner did the formalities to take it off the Belgian register.

I then registered on the SSR as I'm staying in France, but otherwise, as has been said, no reason to.

Brian.

Hi we bought a french boat a couple of years ago. We registered on the SSR over the internet and the previous owner v. kindly wrote us a letter in french to send to the Douane (Customs) where the boat was registered to have it removed from the french flag. No probs at all.

Thanks evryone for response
it looks like important think is to cancel old registration in france
All The Best
Paul

Hello,
looking at the question the other way round, can anybody please advise what must be done to put a boat, previously under the SSR, onto the French register?
Thank,
John

I think you need to be French.
