buying and old - 20 yrs - KAD 44

on an out drive, obviously.

the history is going to be questionable, who knows how reliably it has been serviced.

its only got 250 hours showing, what does that indicate ?!

how much would you budget to sort it assuming it runs ?

It's probably not quite 20 years old if it's a kad44. Tappet service needed at 200 hours so if there's not much history you're going to need to get that done regardless. Apart from that, it's all on condition at that age, esp the outdrive.

The 290 drives are pretty reliable if maintained correctly. Less issues than the modern drives.
I have KAD 44's. They are a bit more complex than the AD41 which is the same block. Things to look out for indeed are tappets at 200 hours, bit more to go wrong with supercharger, belts EDC if you have it.
That said if I hire of all the grief people have with their D series engines and drive I think the KAD 44 is not bad. If you don't need the power AD41 would be my favorite on a drive.
