Feeling a bit left out as a non boat owner, partic as there's been a lot of criticism of nonsense postings on the forum lately so I've decided to go out and buy a virtual boat so I can make some sensible contributions for a change.
I've already done a bit of research and am looking for a low 30's foot boat to keep in a marina on the Mudway. Needs to be suitable for a family of 4 and capable of being handled short handed. Here's my shortlist of potential boats. Anyone got any experience and comments?

Swan Vesta
Moody Blue
Hanse Christian Anderson

hurrah! Virtual cleaner volunteer

Congratulations! I am delighted to hear on your new virtual purchase and will happily agree to e-clean the boat for you every week FREE!

The swan has got to be the choice, as you can go e-racing, and win everything.

Jeanneau what you're on about.

Its really difficult to think of a 30s boat which is low, and a foot boat. What's a foot boat anyway?

If you are going to keep it in the Mudway you will need a girt big honker thing to keep the dinghies and the Mobos off. Also suggest v large depth whizzer wotsit, and beaching legs for when the water goes away.

Match racing

I prefer the Lucifer a fine traditional craft with a fine traditional feel and smell .. knocks sparks off the Swan, and kicked the Moody Blue into touch before retiring

Mudway mooring

Been thinking a bit more about the location of the marina in realtion to the sea so perhaps I will need a faster boat, maybe one of those planing jobbies with the gert big outboard on the back. McCullochs IIRC?

Update

Just had a look at a couple more and think my mind's made up. First off was a cheap Leisure LeStroll but that was a bit on the small side so I think I've settled on an expensive (well money's virtually no object) nearly new Bill J'keel designed Oyster Card. This was on the recommendation of my good friend Ken Livingstone. Being as the Mudway is so close to the Thames the Oyster seemed a good propsition as it offers cheaper rates than cash in central London Marinas.
Next step is a survey and sea trial. Any suggestions for a good virtual surveyor in the Solent area?

Delivery crew required - virtually right now.

Survey came up trumps with virtually no problems, now need to get the boat back to it's new home. Need a crew to help with the delivery, preferably experienced as I've not got a clue. Anyone free. Sorry it's such short notice.

Re: Update

If you want to look further afield there's a good example of the Oyster at Hadaway and Shytmann up in Newcastle, complete with a genuine Worbarrow boat tender.

Re: Delivery crew required - virtually right now.

So, no takers, guess I'm going to have to go alone. Luckily Jimi loaned me his navigation software, the one TCM bought him. Now is it left or right to the Mudway.
Topped up the diesel tank with a drum of that stuff thats been lying around my railway arch for ages. Nigel says it'll be OK so no concerns there. Might even nip across to France on the way round.

Re: Delivery crew required - virtually right now.

OK, OK, I'm with you! Just got to find my virtual oilies - those are the real ones for all the bloomin good they are . . .
Are we meeting for a swift virtual nipperkin in the virtual boozer before we go and collect her?

Er, PS:
Where did you say she is?

I'm virtually ready . . . /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Update on delivery

After a quick stock up in Tescos Khyber and I finally set sail late last night. Had a slight problem but that's now fixed. Khyber called from below something about dropping the log and it bonking him on the head. Turns out I misheard him and he'd actually dropped a log and blocked the heads.
The GPS also packed up a while ago but we've spotted a Condor ferry so we're heading the same way as that went as I'm pretty sure I've seen them in the Mudway. Funny how the sun rises in the West when you're at sea. Must be some kind of optical illusion caused by this thick fog. Couldn't find a radar reflector so we hoisted some empty beer cans up the mast. That should do the trick. Hic.....
