Butyl tape - what is it exactly?

In my experience, chandlers don’t stock it. Maybe because it doesn’t have “marine” on the label and is so cheap. It’s the best stuff for bedding deck hardware. Available in black or white and various widths, I get mine from Dortech Direct.

I have just been to Dortech Direct's website and my head is spinning from the sheer number of sealants etc. they sell. What exactly did you get from them?

Arbo are a premium/leading producer and their Arboseal GZ is available in white and a good range of sizes/profiles. We’re on our third roll:

Thank you for your suggestions everyone. I'm going to go with the Arboseal. I suspect it's the same stuff I've had in the shed for some years, originally bought for a job on the motorhome but there is no ID on the box so I'll play safe and buy new. Ten quid for peace of mind..
