Years ago I got black butyl tape which is super takey/sticky and seals around wiring very well, yes it is a bit messy! Then I got some newer brand that is also butyl tape and its not very sticky or supple...Anyone know of a source of the former tape...pref in white!!! Ta Nik

I ordered Arboseal GZ Butyl Glazing Tape from Dortech Direct which seems quite sticky. It stuck to the bubblewrap it was shipped in, at least, although I haven't used it yet.

I wouldn't choose this for insulting wiring though. You might consider self-amalgamating tape, depending on what exactly you're doing.

Thanks for that...Its to waterprof thro the deck..where the VHF windex and various masthead wires pass thro. I put a large blob of the butyl tape around the wiring in a well on the deck and which seals everything very well. The black makes a mess of the deck thou..what colour is the Arboreal? Nik

Have you tried warming it slightly ,never had any problems with the cheapest butyl on ebay.

If you want almost any tape contact Scapa Industrial, they are Manchester based and make almost any tape you can dream of - and many you cannot (dream of). I assume they will be able to point you to retail outlets.

Believe they do it in different colours - grey, black and white.

For that I would use a deck gland instead though.
