I am in the market for 7 mtrs of the finest Butyl 38mm Toilet Waste Hose money can buy so that I can actually use my electric toilet again after no 1 daughter managed to block the existing pipe with wet wipes which despite significant ( and messy ) efforts to clear have terminally failed .
Can anyone suggest a supplier - the cost seems to range from about £4 to £22 per mtr so any thoughts about what you get for the Costco V Rolls Royce price? would be appreciated.
message to myself = hide everything possible that could or can be flushed when permitting others to stay aboad

Vitesse Marine in Fareham.

We bought some remarkably expensive butyl hose in La Rochelle, which we were assured would last for ten years. It didn't. It was wire reinforced, making it extremely difficult to install, and within two years we could see rust stains on the outer cover, showing that the inner was leaking, corroding the wire. We replaced it with hose bought from Tek-tanks, which I believe is exactly the same stuff as supplied by Lee Sanitation. This has been installed for four years now and has given no trouble at all.

The test for permeability of toilet hose is to rub it with a paper handkerchief, then sniff it. Our Tek-tanks hose passes this test, no transferred smell whatsoever.

I replaced all mine with this 18 months ago - fantastic product but be aware of a couple of points. The outside diameter is significantly larger than the "white" pipe often seen in this application, so routing was a bit difficult to make it fit. Also, although flexible it doesnt like sharp bends which are relatively easy to form with the thinner "white" pipe. The struggle however was well worth it - no nasty niffs so far

What are you smelling for? A rubbery smell, or a pooey smell?

Sewage type smells, showing the hose wall to be pervious. Where this type of smell becomes apparent in yachts it is almost always the hoses at fault, particularly where there is a remote holding tank, e.g. in a different cabin from the heads.

I have to say that the ASAP product technical spec reads very much like the stuff I bought in La Rochelle. Mine only lasted for five years, when rust stains and smells became apparent.

We've used Vetus Sanitation Hose for many years without problems.

As it is current;y 20% off from the above place until later this week I would cease the opportunity. JIMHO.
