We have 2x 4.5kg Butane Gas bottles on board and are finding difficulties in getting these filled in NW Spain.

Does anyone know of anywhere in Atlantic Spain or Portugal where it is possible to have these filled or exchange them, please?

In the meantime we have changed to a Camping Gaz regulator, though the initial purchase of the bottles here in Spain is high 55euros plus!

We have just bought a carbon fibre lightweight bottle with a 10 year warranty. It is refillable in the uk and Europe at car LPG filling stations. We pay in the UK 42p per litre. You can see through the bottle so can keep an eye on the level. It doesnt rust so no nasty rust rings on the deck either

Go to any flea market in Portugal and Spain and buy a cylinder for €10. then get it filled.
Remember though that repsol cylinders in portugal althought the connection and size shape is identical, the handles are different and they wont re-fill or exchange them in Spain, but they will the other way round, strange eh!

We had 4x13kg Calor bottles on Fai Tira 1 and never had a prob on an Alantic circuit, in Europe or the Caribb, always seemed to find a filling point, often a petrol station/motorcaravan place or even at the local refinery, i.e. in Cork and Santa Cruz Teneriffe. It may be worth asking a motorhome owner you see when ashore if they know anywhere.
