A question asked when meeting non boaty folk on their holidays. Between unblocking a loo, polishing stainless, fiddling with never ending list of jobs and the time it takes to get around to doing them whilst relaxing on the back deck...erm no!

So how do you fill your days?

Our favourite is 'it must be so relaxing!'. I often quote that one when anchored in thunderstorms or when some idiot insists on dropping his hook on top of ours.

I studiously avoid referring to boats with non-sailors as we usually have no point of contact on the subject. They either think I spend my time battling force 11s or drinking gin on the afterdeck.

I would like to listen in to a motor boater and a towing caravan person or a sailor who does not move the boat from the marina, on holiday, will fuel be the discussion point, or what they can fit in/on the roof.
