Nothing to do with the question so I will give myself 0/10 from the off. I towed a boat for a short while with functioning brakes and never had an issue. In a past life I was a geologist in exploration in sub equatorial Africa and lived out of a caravan for 10 years. Towed a lot and brakes were often sub-optimal even when "fully" working back in the 80's. When the trailer starts pushing you at speed and starts fishtailing this entire argument is moot as you have a white knuckle drive trying to gently counteract that sway, I'd live in dread for the long down hill passes. Yes I have rolled two caravans and a Unimog with a water bowser. I know what it's like.
