We are but temporary custodians of our properties, and others enjoyment of our location just amplifies our own.

Thanks mate...I'll bring the Chertsey Cruising Club up at the weekend. No need to do anything special, just a dozen or so of us, but it might be nice if you could raft your boats up and make a bit more room ! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You know what? Bring them over Tony! If Dennetts can raft 5 abreast we sure as hell can. Itsa good venue for a band too if you want to make a doo of it. There is only 70' but I can spread my flotilla elsewhere.

I'm serious but we need to agree a weekend because it's pandemonium most of the time in the Brown household.

Prudent to take it to PM's or email /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Some have already deposited their stuff here in advance and one boat here already.

Names! Names! Would that boat be 'OUR WORLD' a big steel boat with a singer sowing machine for an engine?

Byon, where is your place as a matter of interest. I keep seeing various threads with all your hostings, so just curious and to make sure I give a wave when I go by! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Almost opposite the Beetle & Wedge I use the moorings downstream of my boathouse for visiting clubs. Normally I erect a marquee throughout the summer months for their use because Global Warming hasn't reached this area yet either that or South Oxfordshire District Council have banned it in this area, they've banned everything else.

ah haa, so that's where you are! A bit far up from where we normally venture! I have heard about your famous marquee, must be great fun getting everyone through, hopefully I can get up that way one day and share a beer or 3...

Re: Looking forward

It is well worth venturing up, we had a great meal at the Beetle & Wedge last year on a weeks cruise from Datchet. They gave us a free overnight mooring provided we ate in the restaurant. Most costly overnight mooring ever lol but the food and service were excellent. We ate breakfast admiring Byron's place on the opposite bank

We are repeating the cruise again this year in early August (praying for good weather) so if you see us Byron would be more than happy to buy you a beer and you can inspect the new ensign lol and the o so girly cushions I have still not persuaded SWMBO to replace with crushed beer cans /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Looking forward

There's decent moorings about ¼ mile before the Beetle on the same side. Above the Beetle on the other side there are other nice moorings and from there it's a nice walk to our village pub. Food there is adequate if not Beetlesque.
I'd love a beer with you or a bottle of 12 year old Malt (local fine) if you do not take your ensign in at the correct hour /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Looking forward

Thanks guys, sounds great. Now Byron, I wouldn't want any distractions to keep me from getting the ensign in... Had a look at the web site for the Beetle, and certainly not your run of the mill pub by the looks of things, very poshe indeed. Might get to Windsor this weekend, but if the weather stays as it is, I think Runnymede bwill probably be far enough. I'll keep an eye out for you Nick if you're about, and of course watching out for Gavi as well on the way /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: Looking forward

I am hoping that this rain stops and then I will be there tomorrow. If you get towards Windsor we are on the right hand side just below Romney Lock will keep an eye out for you if we go towards Runneymede as well.

Funny people above Goring.......

.....Byron is only half joking about ensigns.....

Last year when moored overnight at Alexander Palace, I woefully neglected to strike my ensign at sundown and the next morning someone actually called Byron to draw attention to my misdemeanour....

I will be up that way sometime around 1st weekend in August - will keep an eye open.
