Well folks, I'm bursting with pride because I have just taken possession of my new pride and joy, Kyra, a Centurion 32 designed by Holman & Pye and built by Wauquiez, and boasting the cutest little stern end in town. Kyra is one of just three of her ilk in the Adriatic and is one of only two I've heard of with teak decks. Can't wait to go out and play, but it's raining now!
A big thank you to Jeff at Aeolus IV for his patiently-given advice. A virtual glass of Tocai for the chap!

Congratulations
You are now the happy owner of one of the boats on which Henry Wauquiez built in the seventies his reputation for strong, seagoing and reliable sailing yachts.
I have also owned for 22 years a Gladiateur.
Should you need spares according to the originals, one of the 4 chaps of the old Henry Wauquiez team can be helpful. He still keeps the full data of the boats and records of the owners:

David Merlot: E-mail: mmerlot@club-internet.fr phone: 00-33-4-933 79 676

The only relationship with him is that he, also as a broker, pushed me in a corner to sell my Gladiateur. Of course my wife and I were also willing, reluctantly, to move to a larger boat, but then, 3 years ago, the new Centurions were only in the drawing board.

What a lovely post. Some cyccis say that the two best days in boat ownership are the day you buy it and day you sell it. I'm optimistic enough to believe that the days in between are in fact the best!

I recently arranged a 'best bum in NZ' competition on one of the NZ boaty forums so go on, show us your bum (stern)!

Which says it all really! Great picture!
I haven't got a picture of Kyra's bum yet; we aren't that intimate. But here's a photo of a very smart sister ship taken not from an ideal angle. Aeolus_IV has the best bum shot I've seen, though. Perhaps he'd post it here for our delectation.

As requested /forums/images/icons/smile.gif. It was the view from the back which sold her on my wife and I, even before we had stepped on board.

Regards, Jeff.
