Been there several times and always found the staff helpful. The town is a short walk away and there is a bar restaurant on site.

Agree with unit 18.... always had a pleasant experience when visiting BYH....

It's a tidal marina isn't it? Access at all times?
How long does it take to get there from the sea? Is Is there a speed limit on the river? Do you need a separate licence to use the river?

Yes its tidal, access at all states... can be quite a set across the entrance, but not dangerously so...
From the sea.... its a good few miles to open water... perhaps at a guess 8nm to the Whitaker buoy....
Speed limit only exists to the end of the moorings by Rice and Cole.....
You'll need a Crouch Harbour permit.... don't think its very expensive.... most marinas include it as part of their berthing fees....

Hmmm, I've found the staff unhelpful and poorly trained, and it does seem to be very expensive.
