Anyone know anything about Burnham On Crouch for mooring? thought I could go on an expedition from Chatham this weekend, I would appreciate any do's and do not's and even if it is worth the visit, cheers /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Its a nice trip Pete, we go Garrison point to the Medway buoy, S W Barrow, West Swin to Maplin Bank, up the East Swin and around S Whittaker and No 6. When going up the Crouch stick to the channel if its low water. Find Burnham Yacht harbour friendly and the town nice with some good eating places, and there is a bar and restaurant on site if you are feeling lazy!

Ignore Fred, if he got to the Medway buoy and couldn't see the shore anywhere god knows what he'd do.
Probably resort to Mrs Fred cooking an emergency breakfast.

Ah well...no...I'm not sure what we are doing as work has intervened, if the bits for the flying soapdish engine arrive we may bravely set out on that on Sunday.

Thanks for the info, just need confirmation on the marina, I understand better to ring in advance and that a dinghy will be required.

By the way, what time is Maplins open rude not to stop by if we are passing, is it worth a look? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Only need a dinghy if you are unable to walk along the pontoons!

Depends how long it takes to get off the sands /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Only a couple of hours, the speed limit doesn't start till well down the Crouch.

Thanks, I'm booked in /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Tides look good, but what is this about sand? I don't want sand anywhere near my bottom or tackle /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

cripps - that's changed a bit since I last visited...............hmmm come to think about it that was with a Frances26 out of Hoo in 1979.....not that surprising then!

Glad to hear it's still friendly though.
