How does the host in BYH work?

In Swansea, there are pontoons next to the lifting area. You come alongside the pontoon just outside of the lifting area and tie up and shut everything down. The staff then drop the straps into the water and we gently pull the boat over the staps where it's lifted out.

Looking at the on BYH, I can't see any pontoons either side of the lifting area. Surely you don't drive over the straps under power? How do you get off, or do they lift with you on-board?

I'll leave that one to the locals but it does look a bit different , there's a standard crane in arrangement further downstream though

You just leave it to the boatyard to get on with it

Think they use the workboat to manoevre your boat into place because we're never asked for the keys!

To be honest it's not something I have ever thought about (maybe should have)

Vreny is correct, the yard manouvere your boat with a workboat tied alongside, very professional job, only thing to be careful about is, you need to retract your log impellor as this can get damaged by the slings

That lift is no different than hundreds that are in operation at marinas around the company. Thichmarsh, Shotley, Neptune Levington come to mind.

Then it's probably Swansea that is unusual. The burnham method seems better to me, especially as the run down to the hoist in Swansea is quite narrow with a 90 degree bend which require a lot of care and a bit of twin engine fiddling to get around!
