Some time ago somebody broke into my boat. Detectives looking for fingerprints. No results.
Reprecentative from the insurance company came.
Results: electronics that was stolen was quite new, they pay the new ones.
The stolen items were :
-Garmin 76 GPS
-handheld VHF
-VHF
-Navionics chartplotter + electronic maps
-Raymarine radar/chartplotter display
-radio/cd-player
+something small

Now the items stolen were 2004 more or less but te same modells do not excist any more. For the replacement the insurance company seems to be flexible.
What would you suggest for replacement ?

Would you go to separate radar display and chartplotter or would you go to multidisplay ? Thats really the problem.
I understand that these multidisplays have the chart and the radar display on top of each other. Is it an advantage ?Haven't seen one in practice yet .

the garmin gps exists still.

presumablky you have "new for old". otherwise you would be getting the street value ie not a lot!

In a way yes. But all the antenna cabels were cut and it's a lot of work to replace them and "new for old " covers that as well. As well as some damage was made so I'm rather having everything fixed and istalled rather than the street value. But they are flexible about the electronics .

I would suggest going for the largest multi-display you can get. Remember, you don't have to superimpose, you can split the screen to get two (or sometimes more) independent pictures.

If you are going to superimpose, it's very important that you have a fast, gyro-stabilised compass.
