Probably not legal, but i'm going to lay a mooring buoy in Fontygary bay so folk can visit the best chippy in the area aswell as Curry house and a Chinky restaurant.Chain should be good for yachts up to 32ft.
Won't be for a while because i need to get to a shipwreck anchor and next tide for that is 12th August.

Could make a good lunchtime stop if sailing over the low water from Cardiff. Will it be afloat at all states of tide?

Not done tide calcs yet but 12th is the lowest i could find at a glance so normally you won't dry.Where it will be is sandy bottom.
All the bars and restaurants are only 100yd walk up the steps and if you go in the raj kinara curry house (excellent) you can watch the boat. Guess the lifeguards would keep an eye on the tender.Indian does all day buffet on sundays.
Other problem is vis because i need to dive to find the anchor which has only been exposed twice in the last 100 yrs.

What would be really handy would be a Bristol channel forum mooring buoy in Oxwich bay.

And one off Brean Down.

And one off Sully - took me 45 mins to clean the crud off my anchor and chain last time I was there.:(

Any others?

Interesting notes, I hope you get to lay the mooring, I'm only sorry I don't have any spare chain. I do however have a spare buoy. It's the heavy duty plastic type, not huge but I used it as on my mooring in Barry. You can have that if its any good? You would think that the Vale Council would see the value in putting a few mooring buoys out wouldn't you? I don't live in the Vale but it may be an issue to raise with your local Councillor for them that do? I have found if you can get the right person on your side Councils will act if they think it will improve tourism for instance?

Go for it Andy, and have to agree with Bosun, more bouys would certainly encourage people ashore.
We anchored off Clevedon for 90 minutes this PM but wouldn't feel confident about leaving the boat unattended on the hook anywhere and staying overnight, forget it! I'd probably wake up in Co Wexford!
Was that a mooring bouy I spotted of Steep Holm this PM? Red thing just sort of sat there.
