Buoy friend

I have a "Buoy Friend" pick-up hook device that came with the boat 25 years ago, it appears to be complete apart from the fitting that presumably went the end of a pole or boat-hook. It looks like a solid piece of kit compared with the plastic alternatives around now and before it goes in the garage sale I was wondering if anyone still had one and could advise if the missing bit would be something I could knock up in the workshop, or even post a picture!

Thanks chaps. Interesting old magazine, definitely the same thing, looks like a moulded end on the pole so probably difficult to reproduce.

No. It is only to hold the snap ring while you hook a buoy. Have a look at the Bosco Boat Hook clip http://www.boscoboathook.co.uk/ I am sure you could knock out one similar out of a piece of 1/16 ss sheet
