I thought it would be nice to replace the rusting meter of chain in the middle of my bridal with a meter of stainless 10mm short link.
Enquired at my local stainless nut and bolt supplier as to how much a meter would cost . . . £22.50 !!

I think I will paint the one I've got.

I wanted a Buoy Bridal not a Boy Bride /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I did see a magnificent Shire Horse stallion at The Royal Cornwall Show and he had a Boy Bridle. On the other hand, if a man has divorced his wife has he broken the bridal chains?

The rust marks on our deck from the mooring chain went away when we replaced it with a new galvanised one. Not V expensive as I recall.

Not the same as a shiny s.s. one though!

It is not at all a good idea to mix stainless steel parts with mild steel or with galvanised parts in a mooring chain. The stainless is so much higher up the galvanic series that corrosion of the mating parts will be severe.

If you can pick up any old (half used) anodes, it is worth adding one or more anodes a few feet down from the surface, where corrosion rates are high.

A section of galvanised chain onto the foredeck keeps the deck cleaner from rust stains and is nicer to handle, but avoid any extra joins as much as possible.
