I am going to mount a small (5kg) tv on the bulkhead on a cantilever bracket.
Now the bulkhead is 1 inch or 3/4 inch marine ply.

My question is, do I need to bolt through the bulkhead or can I preserve the aesthetics of the rear face of the bulkhead by using screws?

Will screws alone have enough strength in a rough seaway to not rip the bracket off the wall.

My concerns relate to strength of screws in wood over bolts.

For information, the Tv is 22" weighs about 5kg and the bracket extends upto 35cm out.

There are two options when buying the bracket; one with two screw/bolt holes and one with 4.

Many thanks

I would bolt through using dome nuts on the reverse side.

I would suggest that 3/4 inch screws (x6?) are nowhere near sufficient to hold that weight at a possible extension of 35 cm. Definitely bolts, and a positive lock to ensure that the bracket remains closed at sea.
