hello all
I understand from the good folks in Poole that I have a non-standard oil pressure sender. Normally the sender is inline at the external oil line behind the flywheel. My sender is installed lower down on the starboard side next to the oil filter. I could spend some money and get a conversion kit but it's being doing the job up to now & i'm happy enough to stick with the arrangement if I can get a similar sender.

Anyone got a similar arrangement? I am having difficulty sourcing an equivalent - its a 240ohm sender (240ohm at zero pressure). No idea what the thread is.

It seems to me that your pressure sender (presumably for a gauge) has been fitted where the normal ordinary make/break oil pressure switch is usually fitted. I have replaced my pressure switch once, and it was a fairly standard thread (found one at Halfords!). I can measure the thread on the old one if you get really stuck.
 
cheers for the offer Vic. Not stuck as such, just being a bit proactive today.

Driving the oil guage as you say, the needle has always been within range, so it appears to do its job where it is.

I was planning to find a functionally equivalent replacement for what I got (the stud terminal appears to be loose - perhaps its supposed to be like that, I don't know). But I'd consider getting the conversion kit if it were the only feasible option. This sender is from 1979 no doubt.

Incidently, what does your pressure switch drive? As far as I know, I don't have one. (oil warning lamp/alarm)?

With the basic instrument panel usually supplied by default it operates a warning light just like on a car. Via some basic diode-resistor logic it is also involved with when the alarm beeper sounds (including the important alarm that reminds you that you have left the stop solenoid engaged!). This 'clever' circuitry is very prone to malfunction due to corrosion of the circuit board and I have changed mine to a much more straightforward circuit (after burning out a stop solenoid when it failed to alarm:( )

My BUKH20 is 1984. I guess by 1979 they had conventional alternator + starter ? .... and not still the incredible 'Dynostart' ??

I believe so. My alternator (origionally Marshall iirc) has been replaced with a
50A Valeo. My current starter is Lucas, although I believe this to have been replaced at some point before my ownership. Not sure whether origional was Lucas or not.

At the tipping point now, where most things are getting replaced at least once! :).
