Hello, does anyone know where I can get a Bukh starter motor refurbihshed, there are no markings on it but i think it is a Paris Rhone? The one place I have been to in Plymouth reckon that parts are no longer available and tied to flog me a new one. More expense!
Cheers, Chris W.

Try yellow pages for an automotive electrical repairer. Most towns seem to have one and they are invariably cheaper than doing it the marine way.

Agree with Vyv, we have a Bukh 20 also and some years ago had our starter motor refurbished by an old style motor engineering workshop, it wasn't expensive at all (as these things go).

Thanks, this being rural Cornwall there is nothing listed under 'auto' in our local Yellow Pages! There was a bloke who rebuilt starters and alternators in his shed in the next village, but he has retired. Am casting my net wider. Cheers, Chris W.

I stripped and rebuilt my BUKH20 starter some years ago with no particular difficulty. It needed new brushes, and also the solenoid contacts cleaned. The local LUCAS depot were very helpful in identifying the correct brushes and ordered them in for next day. (I should be able to find the part-code, but could take a while).

However, my starter is a BOSCH. Don't know if any were Paris-Rhone (though many of the alternators were).

It may be a fair way from you but try Alan Auto Electrics in Brixham 01803 854141 he repaired my starter recently . Wonderful old boy proper old fashion workshop not a computer in sight just a pile of oily thumbed parts lists books but has most bits in stock . Would certainly use him again .

although he might of retired, does he still do jobs to help the pension fund. maybe you should speak to him again.

Many thanks one and all, sorry forgot to say it's on a DV10, Removed starter fron engine this evening, hopefully going to take it to Albaston starters and alternators tomorrow. Hopefully they can fix it whilst I am away on holiday for the next two weeks. If not I'll be back on here again when I get back. Cheers, Chris W.

Anyone need a starter of alternator rebuilt in the Troon, Largs, Ardrossan area, as I know a fantastic (old-fashioned type) engineers / workshop (they did mine)… plus diesel parts (pumps & injectors etc)…PM if required.
No relation or connection apart from they did a “first-class” job. :)
