Ok so after fixing the injector pump, the fuel lift pump has decided to give up.

I was moving the leaver to pull fuel through and I felt something go. Now the lever doesnt want to move, and when the engine is cranking it doesnt pull the fuel through either.

Does anyone know where I can pick one of these up cheap. I know most lift pumps are circa £25, but I bet this bukh one will be a whole lot more :)

Thanks

Steve

Thread is several days old but have only just noticed it.

The lever DOES have a detent (to stop it rattling around in normal use). Could this be what you felt 'go'?

If the cam that operates the pump just happens to be in position you will not be able to operate the lever. Try turning the engine a little. Why not take the top off the pump and see if the diaphragm is making any effort to move when you turn the engine. Not much point replacing the pump if there is really something broken inside the engine.

(Have you had the engine running yet at any stage? You could always rig up a gravity fuel feed as a temporary measure)

I've had mine break - there are a couple of rivets inside that hold the diaphragm to the operating lever that is pushed by the cam - these can, and do shear off. You have to dismantle the pump to repair them, but it's not a difficult job. While you have the pump apart, if it still has the very small mesh filter in the inlet, chuck it away, they don't do anything that the cartridge filter doesn't do, and can cause a lot of grief if they block up.
You could also consider fitting an electric pump in series - or as an alternative - much cheaper than a new mechanical pump, and they work just as well. http://www.thornycroftparts.co.uk/Electric_Fuel_Pump_12v_Diesel__Petrol/p207754_422922.aspx
