My bukh DV20 has started to let out a little grey smoke from the exhaust when under load.
Also after running for a while I am getting 'oily' water in my bilges. I cannot find where it is coming from. Are these two issues related, and can anyone offer advice on how to remedy it?
Many thanks.

dark smoke can be from overloading, air starvation or excessive fuel.
Could your prop/hull be badly fouled?
Check that the air intake is clear also.
Possibly an injector problem - although you say it smokes under load, easy to check the first two first.

Sounds like you either got an oil leak mixing with bilge water, or a water leak mixing with bilge oil? (or is it watery diesel?)
You've checked that the stern gland isn't letting in?
You could dip the engine after running to check for a drop in level, to rule out an oil leak.

Sorry, no magic answer, its a process of elimination.
More details will get plenty of leads from the folks here.

Bukhs are quite well known for steaming, perhaps due to slightly undersized water passages in the manifold, so it would be wise to make sure that what you have is in fact steam, before spending lots of time and money. Make sure the water injection tube into the engine is clear, these regularly cake up with salts. Although hidden behind the flywheel it is possible to remove it without pulling the flywheel.

For the oily water, check that the water pump is not leaking via the small ports along the shaft behind the impeller. Follow engine>water pump on my website for lots more information on this subject.

"Bukhs are quite well known for steaming"
+1

Mine steams away quite happily - spitting out a bit of water too - without over-heating. Although I will crack the covers a bit if I'm running at high revs for any length of time, just in case.
