Bukh DV10M swap to Beta 14?

Can anyone advise how complicated it would be to swap a Bukh DV10M for a Beta 13.5hp?

I'm thinking mainly in terms of

a) Physical dimensions - footprint, height of output shaft, feet positions, whether likely to need a new prop shaft, exhaust side & size, etc.

b) Likely cost for a professional to do this (excluding cost of engine)?

c) Any suggestions of other big issues?

The Beta/Nanni is smaller in all dimensions by a long way. When replacing engines the only real fixed point is the shaft position. You may be able to keep the shaft (but chances are it will need replacing anyway) but everything else needs replacing. The major work is usually the engine bearers, but I expect you will find that Beta at least and probably Nanni will make feet to fit your existing bearers. Fitting cost +/- £1k for the basics, but more for removing the old, cleaning engine bay, installing sound proofing etc. Budget at least £5k including engine.

I would think, in an unfashionable sailing area, £500 - £800 would cover the engineer's bill for labour. Make sure you are not seen off on the price of stuff he buys in, think about getting this yourself, following his suggestions. A freelance will probably be much more flexible on this issue.

You will probably have to increase the size of your water intake, fuel supply and run off, so just as well fit a new filter set up while you are at it.....etc..etc.

If the old engine can be demonstrated running it may well be worth c£500. Make time between the binning of the old and installation of the new, for spring cleaning the engine bay and the jobs you can do for yourself
