Has anyone got a workshop manual for this beast please or alternatively a method for doing the timing. I am a fitter and understand spill cut off but I'm not sure if this method will work with whatever type of pump is fitted.
Thanks in advance.

You can download a workshop manual from here for the DV8, which may use the same method of setting the timing.

No it does not. The settings are different. I have a DV10/20 workshop manual and can copy the relevant pages to you. Note the timing method was changed during the production run, so you need to know your engine number. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

That would be terrific. I only need to check the timing so I don't really need to buy a manual for £30. If you could scan the relevant pages regarding fuel injection timing and send them to me at markpsymons@btinternet.com.
The engine runs OK but it needs three weeks written notice and a fullbefore it will even think about starting. The valves were goosed,I've fixed those and the compression is now good but she still refuses to start quickly.
Any info on injection timing would be much appreciated.
Cheers.

Will be happy to do so (will not be for a week or two since manual is on the boat, which is on a mooring). However, take note of OldHarry's comment concerning production run changes .... was unaware of this. My manual is at least 25 yrs old and a second/third generation photocopy. There are sections which obviously relate to much earlier versions than my 1984 engine.

Dear Buhk owner!

I have just this last week bought a boat with a Buhk dv10 and have been surfing for a manual on the web and found your discussion! I have zero experience with the beast, but from survey, understand it is in fairly good condition. Could I be so rude as to request a copy of pdf manual and parts? Thanks for your help - it will be much appreciated. (alan@ship.soton.ac.uk)
