Ive just purchased a bukh dv10. I got it running last night but I had no control of its speed. I replaced the injection pump with a spare but to no avail. Does anyone know how the speed is controlled. Is it via the slide on the side of the pump or the cam acting on the bottom. Everything that should move seems to be moving.

I thought the DV10 and DV20 were the same so far as this goes. Can check the manual tonight. On the DV20 the throttle control is a rotary quadrant device almost on top of the gearbox. It drives through an internal spring that is very difficult to replace correctly if you need to remove the top cover. Maybe someone has not got it back in the correct location.

Youve hit the nail on the head. But what does the spring actually operate? Is it the slide/nipple on the side of the pump or something else?

I've spent some time studying the manual and, as usual, the thing is a complete mystery. It's the worst manual I've ever known. There is no explanation of the operation of the governor system and no exploded diagram of the complete arrangement.

I don't have a Bukh any longer so I'm working from memory. What is certainly the case is that there is no direct connection between the manual governor and the fuel pump rack. I assume that the manual governor modulates the centrifugal governor by some means that is unclear to me without taking one apart. I can fax you some pages of the manual on Thursday if you can PM me your fax number. It won't help you a lot, though. Suggest a call to Bukh UK would be more use.

G'day wells01

I suspect you will find your problem is the governor, operated by a spring and cam combination, the active lever is moved by a complex set of shaft mounted centrically bits, it's very easy to re-assemble wrong (As proved by a local dealer here).

Hope this helps.
