Recent to me 1983 sailboat with a Bukh DV20, second year running the engine/boat. Not a diesel guy, but very good with a gas engine. The engine starts fine, no smoke and runs good, but it appears to want to jump out of the boat. Motor mounts have aged but appear to be well secured to the engine bed, The vibration is very bad and appears to be getting worst. The vibration is worst at idle and is better, not great at 1500 rpm or higher. I hear some valve noise and I believe needs to be readjusted. What is the main cause or causes for excessive vibration in these little motors ? Looking for a starting point before the engine rips itself out of the boat.
