Looking to buy a modest radar. Anybody out there had experience of the JRC1000?
Or is there anything else worth consideration.

Send message to neilc he had one on his previous boat.

If you read this neil, where have you been lately?

Ive got the JRC800 never had any problems with it. The 1000 has a better display. The only thing to check is that if you have to cut the multi plug off to route the scanner cable thru the arch, is that the dealer will still honour the garrentee. When I fitted mine M.E.S were ok about this.

I have a JRC1000. Fits the bill for me. When using it in good viz, seem to be able to see most of the things I think I should see! Don't pick up much beyond 5 miles, but this may be just mine.

At the price I have no complaints.

Paul is right I bought a JRC 1000 for my last boat and was highly delighted with it. My current boat has a Ratheon, which is very good, but for my needs is no better than the JRC.

If I were in the market again I would have no hesitation with the JRC.

As previously mentioned DIY fitting can be a bit of a pain due to the connector plug. I didn't want to cut the cable but instead disconnected from inside the Radome and fed it backwards.

By the way Paul I am still around and will need to talk to you soon re filters, servicing etc. I will give you a ring, or call in next time you're in the marina, we're there every weekend.
