What should I expect from popping up the Beaulieu for an early-season weekend?

How expensive to moor a 27ft yacht overnight? Are the staff friendly? Do they have showers?

What's the pub like these days? Quality of food? Quality of beer?

£27 in the marina and £16 on the river pontoon for 27 foot. Staff have always been friendly when I have gone in to pay my fees. Yes they have showers. Haven't been in the pub this season but last season it was the same as it has always been, not cheap, not great but ok for an occasional visit. Overall it is a unique and peaceful place that I always enjoy visiting.

+1 apart from about 10 years ago where me and an assistant harbor master had a "discussion"...

Bar menu recently changed and gives a good selection. Main restaurant good also. Bar was packed over the Easter weekend and the food coming from the kitchen looked fine............Doom Bar on tap!. Marina has just won an award for services provided.........staff are brilliant............I could be biased........I berth there!

If the hotel is quiet, both food and service are good, but have found out the hard way that things begin to fall apart when it becomes very busy on summer weekends or if there is a big function on.

We moored at Beaulieu because we loved the Master Builders but having had to endure 3 weddings there in the last 2 months, the service suffers, the noise of the disco travels across to the marina and the staff struggle to speak English. Very disappointed.

Fair enough.

Having posted the original question, I did spend a weekend there about a month ago and we had a good stay.

We were served a reasonable enough meal - albeit falling somewhere in the category between good but expensive food and bland but cheap food, veering slightly towards ordinary but not cheap!

All staff appeared to be, and spoke, English. The beer was fine.

There was a wedding on, but I suppose it is exactly the sort of obvious place that would attract people to have their wedding there. We weren't too bothered by late night disco.

We spent our "minimoon" there in January. They did a very decent room, breakfast and dinner for two deal so we stayed a couple of nights. The food, to be honest, was great. The portions were very generous considering they were inclusive meals and were very tasty.

But as stated, that was in January when they weren't massively busy. May be somewhat different during peak seasons.

Aaargh! Ate there last night, the first time this summer season. The new menu was noticeably more expensive, the food only middling and the barman was actively rude and stroppy..... Really disappointed - it seems to be going backwards, and frustrating too as it has the potential to be such a lovely spot!
