Bryony goes to the briny

With a good weather forecast coupled with swmbo and I both being off at the same time we trailed the boat down to Portrush, on the North Coast. This has been my aim for a couple of years now but my wife took some convincing. Anyway, Portrush has a great slipway and the harbour masters assistant was more than helpful. I suppose the fact that it was off peak meant that it was not quite as busy but £6-50 for the use of the slip and parking was great value.

Even this late in the season space was at a premium but I got rafted up next to Portrush Sea Tours big rib

Lovely calm day, leaving the harbour behind and while keeping one eye on the chart, headed through Broad Sound for the Skerries just offshore for a bit of fishing.

Much to my surprise we did catch some fish, before heading off for lunch - anchored in the West Bay. After that we headed to Portstewart, just along the coast and just beyond that the Barmouth, where the Lower Bann river enters the sea from Lough Neagh (where we usually boat)

All too soon we had to leave the Lower Bann and head home . . .

. . . the good thing being - SWMBO wants to go to sea again !! Now I just have to persuade her how easy it is to get to Scotland from here . . . .
