Boat has a Brydon toilet - not sure what model but it'll be 30 years old. It works but it is stiff to pump and there is a clean water leak around the top of the vertical shaft when pumping. (Pumping the toilet!) Replacement for ~£100 is an attractive option, though not if repair is likely to be easy.
Grateful for any advice before I strip it down or replace.

Don't bother repairing it. Just get a new one. I?f you show around you can get them for about £80.

Worth taking apart before you decide to ditch it. The stiffness will probably be the valves caked up. Good clean may be enough to get them working again. The leak at the top is the seal on the piston rod. May just be a simple O ring.

I gather a Canadian version of a Jabsco, long since discontinued

Jabsco did spares for a while but not now.

However if you Google you'll find some universal spares kits that allegedly fit the Brydon and others.

A slug of cooking oil will probably lubricate it and overcome the stiffness.

Maybe you'll find some alternative that will seal the plunger ... who knows the modern Jabsco seal might fit or a simple O ring
