Hope to be back on the water soon. Will renew my ICC etc. Been away from boating for a while.

Can someone recommend something definitive but easy reading that will give me all I need in one book to get my working knowledge back up?

Thanks!

The RYA produced course notes for the Day Skipper and Yachtmaster theory are pretty good. They are in the form of a book and have lots of pictures to illustrate things and very easy to use. Have a look in their online shop where they are available in hard copy or e-book. Cheers

Good reply from Greg2, plus Google is your friend and You Tube is handy too

The Skippers Pocketbook is a handy aide memoire and well worth £9.95

I always find the "A Seaman's Guide to the RULE OF THE ROAD" ISBN 0-948254-58-0 very good value.

The RN used to (still do?) issue it to 'makey learnee' Officers of the Watch. A self-teaching book.

About £15 but well worth it.

A simple aide memoire for Cardinal markers is to remember the cones 'point' to the black section/s.

North Black band over yellow

West Black band between two yellow bands also West is waisted or a Wine glass

South Yellow band over black 6 o clock 6 flashes plus

East Black Yellow Black

Be aware that a mucky weed covered base on a North can make it appear by the bands to be an East
