A while since I bought white spirit for brush cleaning having changed to using B&Q's own brand brush cleaner on the grounds of cost.
My most recent visit confirms that brush cleaner and white spirit is actually dearer than petrol and road diesel.
I know that road fuel is dear because of the extra taxes but surely this is just another rip off.
Before I revert to using washing powder, anyone out there got ideas for cheaper alternatives?

I've recycled my thinners for years, very rarely have to buy any. Simply pour the used stuff into a plastic milk bottle and keep on topping up until it's full, put on one side and leave for a month or two- decant carefully into another bottle- result nice clean thinners you can re-use. Works a treat!

Brush cleaner

Pay a visit to your local motor factor and pick up a 5 litre jar of cellulose thinners for about £8. For years I have used nothing else and it cleans everything from hammerite to two pack.
