Bruce Roberts steel motor yachts

Hi,

Anyone out there got any experience with Bruce Roberts' range of steel motor yachts (esp the Euro 12/14/16 range) - I've seen the previous post in this Forum from adrianm in 2001 and have emailed him directly. I'm particularly interested in gaining any practical info / personal experiences of the quality of the product, choosing a builder / yard, building up the kit, fitting out and any other relevant info.

Looking at this I wonder if this was my first post ever. FFS why dig that up? Reminder of a stalled failed project.

I owned a Bruce Roberts Waverunner 38 for almost 20 years. A company called A F Budge Marine built her in 1990 and she was shown at the Southampton Boat Show that year. That company no longer exists. It was built like a brick out house, weighing in around 20 tons dry. Cavernous inside for the length. Budge only built three and folded due to a catastrophic mistake made by the builder with hulls 2 and 3 which was not the fault of the designer. It was an excellent boat which I only sold as I had an unexpected windfall. She currently lives on the Norfolk Broads but sadly hasn’t been well maintained.

I have no knowledge of the models you mentioned so can’t comment on them directly.

Wavey, thanks for the reply but this was over 20 years ago, there were no replies originally and the only reason it’s surfaced now is that scallywag Seastoke has disinterred it to make trouble

@Wavey did you see @JOHNPEET thread about his Almarine build? That’s what I had in mind. But I’d have never achieved anything remotely close to this.

I do vaguely remember following it at the time. I have the greatest admiration for anyone who undertakes something like that and achieves it successfully. My dad bought a sale away Eastwood 24 many years ago and had to fit out the interior. Just that was a far, far more difficult job than you’d first think, if you wanted to do it properly.

FWIW there was a Bruce Roberts Waverunner around Milford Haven for many years, passing through various owners - now away on it's travels.
Good looking boat though.

Friends of mine are currently selling their BR38 in Ireland. They are a great inland cruiser with huge internal space. Theirs is a three cabin version so it’s a great family boat.
